Volunteer Lawyers Project of Onondaga County

The mission of the Volunteer Lawyers Project of Onondaga County, Inc. is to expand access to justice by identifying and meeting the unmet civil legal services needs of low income people in Onondaga County through increasing the pro bono participation of the legal community.

OnVLP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit legal aid organization that provides free legal information, assistance, and representation in civil legal matters to low-income people. Our services are provided by volunteer attorneys with the help of law students and are supervised by a small staff. Our mission is to provide equal access to justice to those in need.

In 2014, the Volunteer Lawyers Project of Onondaga County closed 2,682 cases, benefiting over 6,500 people in civil legal issues affecting the essentials of life, including housing, family, elder, divorce, veteran and immigration law.
